How to get to Opoutere:
From Auckland,
Head south on State Highway 1. (Southern Motorway)
Turn left on to State Highway 2 to Thames (at the Bombay Hills)
Continue for many kilometres.
Then left on to State Highway 25 with Thames/Coromandel Peninsula signs
Cross the Hauraki Plains cross the Kopu Bridge (with traffic lights)
After the Kopu Bridge (single lane) turn right at T Junction (Kopu Hotel and Mobil Service Station there)
Drive 400 metres then turn left to State Highway 25a Kopu-Hikuai road to Whangamata (see signs Whangamata).
Cross the Kopu-Hikuai road (approx 30 km) and turn right to Whangamata.
Drive approx 13 km through the forest as you come down a public Hall (Opoutere) then - turn left to Opoutere
Drive 2.8 km to the entrance of a private concrete culdesac Wharekawa Place (opposite "boats" parking area)
Opoutere Hideaway is 1st house on left with glass ballustrades upstairs and downstairs.
IF DRIVING FROM THE SOUTH: Drive from Waihi to Whangamata and keep going north –
the turn to Opoutere is 10km north of Whangamata (see public Opoutere Hall and follow above instructions).

- 10 Minutes from Whangamata.
